Instructions: Cake: Sift flour and sugar together. Bring butter, shortening, water and cocoa to a boil in a sauce pan. Pour over flour mixture while still hot. Add buttermilk, eggs, soda and vanilla. Spoon into a large baking sheet with sides. Bake in a 400ºF. oven for 20 minutes. Ice cake while still hot. Icing: Combine butter, cocoa and milk in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts. Mix well. This recipe from the "Flat Rock Cookbook".
