Meringues 1 2 egg whites 1/8 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar 1 tsp. vanilla 3/4 c. sugar 1 c. chocolate chips 1/4 c. walnuts, chopped Beat egg whites, salt, tartar and vanilla to soft peaks. Add sugar gradually and beat to stiff peaks. Fold in chips and nuts. Drop by spoonfuls on pan. Bake at 300ºF. for about 25 minutes. Bake slow so they stay chewy-won't brown.

Add sugar gradually until peaks are stiff. Add chocolate chips and walnuts. Bake on brown paper on cookie sheet at 300ºF. for 25 minutes.
